Organising your visit
What is the expected visit duration?

We recommend taking your time to fully enjoy your visit to the site and the monument. Generally speaking, you should plan for a minimum visit time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes for a self-guided tour. For a more comprehensive visit of the discovery areas and/or a guided tour, plan for at least half a day and ideally the whole day to also wander along the numerous walking paths, on the banks of the Gardon, and in the garrigue.

What do you recommend as a visit program during my visit to the Site?

We recommend ideally planning a full day at the site. You can start with a guided tour of the Pont du Gard, which will allow you to cross the third level of the monument where water flowed during the Roman era, accompanied by a mediator. Then, a walk on the numerous trails, along the banks of the Gardon and in the scrubland, will delight young and old alike. You can have lunch at the Bistrot on the left bank or at the restaurant Les Terrasses on the right bank. Next, we invite you to explore the discovery spaces located on the left bank to learn more about the history of the Nîmes aqueduct, the Pont du Gard, and the surrounding site: one of the largest Roman engineering interpretation centers in France opens the doors to its 2500 m2 Museum, the Ludo space for children aged 5 to 12, and its cinema with a 15-minute film on the history of the monument.
