Access to the ticket office

The ticket office closes 30 minutes before the site closing time.

We strongly recommend that you arrive no later than 50 minutes before closing time.

Bridge lighting

The monument is lit every evening in summer at nightfall.

High season: (June to mid-September): video lighting (+ video mapping in July and August)

 

Accessibility conditions 

The Pont du Gard site is entirely pedestrian and open to visitors on foot or cyclists. We recommend that you wear good walking shoes suitable for discovering the natural and cultural site of the Pont du Gard. Only parking, entrance to the educational areas and guided tours and workshops are subject to entrance fees.

 

A visit adapted to people with reduced mobility

The Pont de Gard Site is committed to its public service mission and always eager encourage as many people as possible to discover the site’s wonders, doing everything possible to facilitate the reception and visits of the disabled under the best possible conditions. Car parks are equipped with dedicated spaces, all pathways are easy to access, wheelchairs can be provided free of charge , the Pont du Gard is committed to ensuring full access to the monument, and the site’s educational areas as well as most of the events and shows organised throughout the year.

The various cultural areas and "Les Terrasses" Restaurant are equipped with lifts. The Museum offers a sensory discovery approach, including a radio theatre and a tactile approach to understanding ancient technical know-how. Entrance to the cultural areas is free for disabled people.

Only access during guided visits to the aqueduct itself on the 3rd tier of the monument is not suitable for disabled, since this involves 80 steps and a return journey through the garrigue paths. 

By car 

The Pont du Gard site is located near the A9 motorway, exit 23 - Remoulins, which is easily accessible from the RN100 - direction Uzès. Road signs indicate the access to the right or left bank, depending on your preference.

• 21km from Avignon 

Supervised but unguarded car parks are available during the site's opening hours.  
• Left bank: 800 spaces 
• Right bank: 600 spaces 
The parking fee is €9/car per day, with the possibility of transforming your parking ticket into an annual subscription free of charge or pre-purchasing one. Find out more. 

By train

The nearest train stations to the Pont du Gard site are Nîmes centre, Nîmes Pont du Gard, Avignon centre and Avignon TGV. Shuttle buses are available from Nîmes centre and Avignon. The TGV link between Paris and Nîmes takes 2 hours and 50 minutes. 
NEW FOR 2023: To promote sustainable tourism and mobility, the Pont du Gard site has set up a partnership with liO Train SNCF with which you will be able to benefit from entrance fees to the Site, on presentation of a liO Train ticket: 
• Self-guided visit to the monument and the educational areas (Museum, Cinema, Ludo Centre and Temporary Exhibition): €6 instead of €8 for adults / free for children under 18 ; 
• Guided tour of the monument with access to the top level and visits to the educational areas: €13 instead of €15*.

How to get to the Pont du Gard with liO Train? 
• Step 1: take a liO Train to Nîmes Centre station + a liO Car to the Pont du Gard; 
• Step 2: specify your preferred dates and times + enter "Gare de Nîmes, 30 000 Nîmes" as the departure address and "VERS - Rond point pont du gard" as the arrival address; 
• Step 3: you can buy your liO Car ticket online, in a liO Nîmes sales office, on board the vehicles or at the ticketing agents.

By bike

The Pont du Gard encourages cycle tourism with a number of easily accessible cycling circuits around it so that you can come to the site by bike, so you will be able to discover the region from a new angle and in a gentler way. 

1st option: The greenway from Beaucaire to Uzès 
The Gard’s longest greenway, it links the two Art & History cities, Beaucaire and Uzès, and runs for a total of 32km. This cycle touring route provides direct access to the Pont du Gard. 

2nd option: The ViaRhôna from Avignon to Beaucaire 
This 815km cycle route takes you through unique and singular landscapes and passes by the Pont du Gard! Enjoy the exceptional landscapes of this route, which retraces more than 2,000 years of history and heritage, and stop off at the Pont du Gard site by taking the Avignon - Beaucaire leg of the ViaRhôna .

Regardless of the number of people or the duration of the visit, parking is to be paid on site at the automatic pay stations located in front of the buildings of each bank, or by credit card at the exit terminals.

Once you have paid the €9 parking fee, you have 14 days to create an online account with your car registration number and convert your parking ticket into an annual subscription. Thanks to our registration plate recognition system, you will be able to come back as many times as you like!
