Exhibition: In the Dragon’s Throat

From 26 June to 1 November 2026, the Pont du Gard site is hosting a photography exhibition entitled “Exhibition: In the Dragon’s Throat” by the artist Marie Moroni. Through a sensitive portrayal of the Gardon Gorges, this exhibition invites visitors to explore a wild and mysterious landscape, where scenery, caves, light and darkness come together.

In the Dragon’s Gorge MARIE MORONI

The Gardon Gorges reveal themselves off the beaten track as a wild, rugged and often impenetrable landscape.

Inhabited since prehistoric times, more than twenty caves bear witness to a continuous human presence.

Marie Moroni’s photographic narrative explores this place and weaves a dialogue between landscapes and caves, vegetation and rock, shadow and light. Inspired by Plato’s allegory of the cave, it questions what lies hidden and what is revealed.

*In the Dragon’s Gorge* depicts a raw, mysterious world that serves as a refuge, deeply rooted in our natural heritage.

Presented simultaneously at the Pont du Gard, the Prieuré Saint-Nicolas in Uzès and the Nîmes Tourist Office, this exhibition offers a poetic immersion into the heart of a natural and human heritage shaped since prehistoric times.
