Texte descriptif

The Salpêtrière cave, which you can see next to the Les Terrasses restaurant, dates back to the Deer Age, 19,000 years ago. It is one of the major sites of French prehistory, classified as a Historic Monument in 1931. It contains more than 6 metres of superimposed dwellings representing 20 millennia of human history. Our "Salpêtrien" ancestors, hunter-gatherers, set up their huts and camps here.
