On Fridays and Saturdays from 11 to 26 September, immerse yourself in the world of Robert Combas over six exceptional evenings that are 100 per cent artistic and immersive, with the chance to visit the ‘War and Peace’ exhibition until 8.00 pm, then continue the experience in style with the sound and light show inspired by the artist’s works at 9.00 pm. Robert Combas’s ‘War and Peace’ exhibition: a special late-night opening
To kick off your evening in the spirit of creativity and colour, the Pont du Gard is opening its doors exceptionally for the exhibition dedicated to Robert Combas until 8 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings from 11 to 26 September. To mark these unique events, entry to and a tour of the exhibition will be completely free from 5 pm to 8 pm.
This is the perfect opportunity to explore the rich and varied career of this leading figure of the Figuration Libre movement. Through his paintings, drawings and sculptures, immerse yourself in an instinctive and generous style where popular culture and mythology intersect. A captivating journey that prepares the eye and the mind for the night’s main event.
A spectacular finale at the stone giant at 9 pm
After exploring the exhibition, prolong the magic and enjoy a fully immersive experience: head to the riverbanks at 9 pm to watch the ‘War and Peace’ sound and light show.
Inspired by Robert Combas’s vibrant work, this visual and auditory masterpiece transforms the Pont du Gard into a monumental canvas as night falls. For several tens of minutes, the two-thousand-year-old arches come to life, adorned with colours, video projections and sound compositions. The show offers a poignant and poetic reinterpretation of the universal themes of war and the quest for peace, elevating the ancient monument through a unique dialogue between contemporary art and World Heritage.
